The Club was founded in 1987 by a group of people who wanted to promote Flat Green Bowling in a predominantly Crown Green area. We are a small, friendly Club fortunately being only1 mile from the town centre of Shrewsbury in the lovely county of Shropshire U.K. The Club used to belong to Crown Green bowlers so the green was converted (not very successfully) to a sort of flat green! Later on, in about 1995 it was 'flattened' properly with the aid of the latest Laser technology.

County and Affiliation Facts
ST. MICHAEL'S BOWLING CLUB is affiliated to the Herefordshire Bowling Clubs with whom we play matches at County level. We are neighbours to many Welsh clubs, and with being in a Crown Green area, many of our games are "over ther border". All in all we have a vary varied card for a small Club.
THE SHROPSHIRE BOWLING CLUBS ASSOCIATION (S.B.C.A.)
The only three flat green Clubs in Shropshire have formed a League consisting of
ST. MICHAEL'S LAWN GREEN BOWLING CLUB, SHREWSBURY;
LILLESHALL HALL BOWLS CLUB and
TELFORD and WREKIN DISTRICT BOWLING CLUB.
We meet at regular intervals in an atmosphere of fierce but very friendly rivalry.
