Saturday April 19th. Home to Lilleshall 
St. Michael's L.G.B.C. played host to Lilleshall B.C. on Saturday April 19th, the opening match of the season, and despite the weather a most enjoyable and closely contested match was fought. Eventually St. Michael's managed to win, but only by the narrow margin of 85 shots to 78. For St. Michael's, the winning rink comprised Iain Davison, Chris Griffiths, Bryan Edwards and skip Bill Hughes.
To prolong this excellent start, would all members please dust off their woods/bowls and provide as much help, support and encouragement as possible.
The Club is pleased to welcome a new member, Iain Davison. Iain used to play for Rugby Thornfield, both indoor and outdoor prior to relocating to Shrewsbury.

Saturday, April 26th. Away to Telford 
It was an away trip to Telford for St.Michael's L.G. bowlers this week.
After a brilliant game the Shrewsbury team were saved on the last end by a shot from Bill Hughes and the result was a 57 points each draw.
The highest scoring rink was Margaret Morris, Norman O'Connor,
Bryan Edwards and Bill Hughes.
Next week's match is an away trip to Church Stoke.

Saturday, May 3rd. Away to Church Stoke
Saturday, May 10th. at home to Sarn
St. Michael's L.G.B.C. had an away trip to Church Stoke and achieved an excellent
result by winning on all rinks with a total of 95 shots to 52. The winning triple was
Norman O'Connor, Cherry O'Connor and Noel Morris as skip.
The next fixture was at home to Sarn. The good play continued and the home
team won by 56 shots to 44. The winning rink was Sue King, Bryan Edwards,
Pat Westcott and Bill Hughes as skip.
Next weekend is another home match against Abermule.

Sunday May 16th. At home to Abermule
It was another fine win for St. Michael's L.G.B.C. this weekend when visitors from
Abermule were beaten on every rink. It was a last minute push from the 
Shrewsbury
team as Abermule had steamed ahead on the first few ends. The highest scoring triple
of the 72 shots to 58 win were Norman O'Connor, Emma Griffiths and Bill Hughes as
skip.
In spite of their good wins this year Captain, Cherry O'Connor, is concerned that some
of their fixtures may have to be cancelled unless more flat green bowlers join the club.

May 23rd. Interclub Triples. Away to Telford
It was the first round of the Inter Club Triples Competition this weekend and St. Michael's
went off to the flying start by beating Telford away by 76 shots to 47. Despite giving
away 2 points as the Shrewsbury team did not have the required team members, they
still managed to amass 15 points toTelford's 3.
The highest scoring triple was the mother and daughter pairing of Christine and Emma
Griffiths with Noel Morris as skip.
Earlier in the week the St. Michael's ladies drew their match against Lilleshall ladies.

May 31st. Away to Forden 
Another away match and another win for St. Michael's L.G.B.C. This week it was
a trip for a friendly match against Forden. St. Michael's won by 69 shots to 55
with two teams fighting for the highest score - Chris. Grifiths, Pat Westcott with
Gerry Westcott as skip and Margaret Morris, Bryan Edwards and Noel Morris as
skip.
Next weekends fixtures are both competition matches and both away to the
strong Lilleshall team.

June 28th. Home to Forden 
After a small blip with St. Michael's losing two games to the Lilleshall club
the Shrewsbury team are back on course with a win against the visiting
team from Forden. Winning on every rink St. Michael's scored 79 points to
Forden's 39. The highest scoring triple was Christine Griffiths, Emma
Griffiths and Gerry Westcott skipping.
Next Saturday's fixture is at home to Llansantffraid.
July 5th. Home to Llansantffraid 
St. Michael's carried on winning on Saturday against visitors from
Llansantffraid. TheShrewsbury team won by 70 shots to 45 with
the highest scoring triple of Iain Davison, Emma Griffiths and
Noel Morris as skip.
Fixtures this week are a triples match against Telford on Friday
and a game against Guilsfield on Saturday.

July 11th - 12th Home to Telford and Guilsfield 
St. Michaels L.G.B.C. recently hosted the Inter Club Triples match against Telford. A most enjoyable match with the home team winning with a score of 97 shots to Telford 47.
For St. Michaels, the highest scoring triple was Iain Davison, Lill Potter and skip
Bill Brissenden.
The following day and St. Michaels played host to Guilsfield. Unfortunately, St. Michaels could not repeat their success of the previous day and, after a close fought match Guilsfield won by 65 shots to St. Michaels 54. The highest scoring triple for St. Michaels was Chris Griffiths, Rosemary Pennington and skip Bill Brissenden.

July 20th away to Carno and July 17th S.B.C.A Ladies v Gents County match at St. Michaels
It was a long trip to Carno for St. Michael's bowlers this week but made all 
the more enjoyable by a 69 shots to 66 win. The win was only made possible
by a magnificent performance by the triple team of Bryan Edwards, Emma Griffiths and
Bill Brissenden as skip.
Earlier in the week the annual county match of Ladies v Gents was held on the
Shrewsbury ground. The Gents scored 52 points to the Ladies 44. The highest
scoring team on each side both coming from the Lilleshall B.C.
